A small, family flock, we are heavily involved in promoting the Shetland breed and producing quality sheep, meat, fleeces and skins from these fabulous little sheep that graze the Mendip Hill and Lowlands. We support our customers heavily from sheep purchases through the duration of their life with their new owners and believe firmly in 'Buy Local' and food traceability. Lisa is the main 'shepherd' and is a current Committee member with the Shetland Sheep Society as well as being active on the Society Marketing Group, the Somerset (and acting Devon) Area Rep, a qualified breed inspector, sitting on the Executive Committee and also regularly writes articles for the Shetland Breed magazine available to SSS members. She organises regular educational events for members and Shetland sheep keepers alike in Somerset looking at wool and the sheep as well as social lunches and National Sheep Association attendance.
Dale is 'back-up' support and can often be seen lugging water and hay, driving round on the quad bike or supporting Lisa, with the children in tow, whilst she orchestrates her latest Shetland-related event, sheep-sale or is inspecting sheep.
Lucas & Lena are the babies in the family and are responsible for showing off their sheep in the ring and helping tame any new-influx or lambs and keeping the main flock friendly, which they take very seriously and they love their little sheep with large personalities and teenager-Tom helps with the hay, feed and water demands of the penned sheep at shows but apart from that can be found sleeping in the car or picking fallen apples.
We believe strongly in promoting the qualities of this hardy little sheep; from excellent mothering skills and easy lambings, delicious, high quality meat, gorgeous soft fleece and beautifully coloured and patterned sheepskins and highly recommend joining the Society as a member in order to be fully supported in all aspects of Shetland Sheep.
